How Do You Display Your Photos In Your Home?

I get asked this question a lot by clients, “What are some cute and different ways to display photos in our home?”

Well, look no further! I had the opportunity to be part of an article that talks about just that! My person favorite thing to do with photos is add color and life to the area you want to display. A very popular style right now when displaying photos is a super colorful collage display. Adding various color schemes adds visual interest. This type of style is gorgeous to display going up staircases as well as on main walls in a living room.

New Jersey Newborn & Family Photos | Baby Sister

Every time I do a newborn photography session I’m reminded of just how lucky I am to have the best job in the world! I was so excited to have this family in my West Milford, NJ photography studio again towards the end of last year. I did a cake smash for their oldest daughter about two years ago, and have also done family photos for them in the past. Always love to see past clients in the studio again!

It was fun to see how much big sister has grown since I last saw her. She was adorable with her new baby sister. Mom and Dad told me how excited she was to have a sister. I think that’s so sweet, and I could definitely tell she was loving it by the way she interacted with new baby! So cute to watch them together.

We did mostly whites and neutrals for these newborn and family photos, but we added some splashes of color as well—mostly pretty pinks and blues. I love that they wanted some blues—a lot of times people only pick that for boys, but girls look so pretty in blue too. And there are lots of ways we can make it more girly-looking by adding flowers, lace, or headbands.

I love that we had the whole family in the studio for these newborn pictures! We got so many beautiful images and just had a wonderful time together. Congratulations to mom and dad on this latest addition to their lovely family!

Thanksgiving Cake Smash | New Jersey Photographer

Can’t get over the cuteness of this little guy and his Thanksgiving cake smash photo session! I photographed him as a newborn, so when mom contacted me about doing his one year birthday cake smash I was so excited. I love it when I get to see clients again and watch these little ones grow up.

All of my cake smash photography sessions are completely customized so that every client has a shoot designed just for them. Creating custom backgrounds is one of my favorite things to do. It’s always fun to learn about my clients’ tastes, gather the perfect props, and bring their vision to life.

Give Thanks

This little guy was born around Thanksgiving, so mom requested a Thanksgiving/harvest theme for his cake smash pictures. Nothing says autumn to me like pumpkins and sunflowers—so bright and fun! A rustic barn door and tractor sign made the perfect focal point. And of course—lights! If you’re familiar with my work you probably already know that I love to use lights in my baby photos. They work with any setup and add some fun sparkle to the images.

This cutie was so smiley for me! He was obviously having a great time, which is exactly the experience I want these little ones to have when they visit my West Milford, NJ photography studio. Loved the adorable plaid shirt and boots combo for his baby portraits. And when it was time for cake—well, who can resist a baby boy in a bow tie and suspenders?

It was great to spend some time with this happy little boy. We had such a fun session together and I love the images we created!

Why Dubsado is the best business/client management software?

Wow, what can I say about Dubsado?! I have been a loyal customer with them since the beginning.

I was on the market many years ago for a client management program that I could use to send invoices, create contracts, etc… I tried 3-4 different companies and landed on Dubsado. Within the first hour of using it I knew it was the one for me!

The ease of use with Dubsado is was impressed me the most. I do call myself tech savvy and know my way around a computer, but I am no expert by any means. Dubsado taels the guess work out of it all. Baby Sister | New Jersey Newborn and Family Photos

Had so much fun welcoming this family back to my photography studio in West Milford, New Jersey over this past summer! I photographed big brother when he was a brand new baby himself. Can’t believe that’s been three years ago already. He’s gotten so big and it was great to see how much he’s grown. He is also thrilled to be a big brother! It was adorable to watch his excitement while we did these newborn and family photos. He is so proud of his new baby sister.

We decided to go with a traditional pink and white color scheme for this sweet little girl, but we used very pale pinks. This is one simple way to have some nice color in your photos while still keeping things neutral enough that your artwork can be used to decorate any room in your home.

Baby sister was the star of the show, so most of our session focused on her, but we also used our time together to get some updated family photos. A newborn photo session can be a great opportunity to do that—especially if you have other little ones. Kiddos change so fast, so it’s wonderful to record how older siblings are growing at the same time you celebrate the arrival of a brand new life.

This is such a sweet little family and I loved the beautiful images we created together. Such an exciting time!

Gold Stars Cake Smash | Baby Photographer Northern NJ

It was so fun to see this family again for a baby photography and cake smash session! I previously did a Valentine’s Day mini session with them in early 2020, and now that baby girl is getting so big they decided it was time for more pictures. We had a blast together!

I believe every baby and family is unique—and deserves a session that’s designed especially for them. That’s why I create a custom setup for every photo session I do. I love working with my clients to create photos that are everything they wanted and more. This little girl’s mama knew that she absolutely wanted gold and stars incorporated in some way, so that’s what we ran with. I love how it looks like stars are falling all around her. The gold and white really caught the light and made our pictures shine in more ways than one!

This little princess enjoyed her cake—especially the frosting. Now that’s a girl after my own heart. She got it all over her hands and face. She did try to lick it all off—and did a great job—but in the end we still got out my baby-sized clawfoot tub for her to wash up in. Nothing like bath time after a cake smash!

It was so much fun to celebrate with this little cutie. Definitely a gold star session!

Stars and Stripes Baby Girl Newborn Photography Session | Northern New Jersey Studio

I hope everyone is having an amazing holiday season! I know it’s a bit of a weird one this year, but I hope you’ve had bright spots and things to be grateful for. One of the things I am always thankful for, no matter what the time of year, is my job as a newborn photographer and all the precious babies I get to meet!

This little sweetheart came to my Northern New Jersey photography studio earlier this year (during the summer). Her mom is my daughter’s teacher, so it was really fun to help her welcome this little darling into her life with a custom baby photography session.

Personal Touch

I really enjoy customizing each of my sessions to match my clients’ vision. I have tons of cute and beautiful props in my studio, but of course parents are always welcome to bring a little something from home that has sentimental value and will make their child’s baby pictures extra special and unique. This mama wanted to bring her wedding veil, which was wonderful! Baby girl newborn pictures with mom’s wedding dress or veil are super popular, and I can see why! It’s a way to add an elegant personal touch to the photos, as well as a sweet reminder of the beautiful things that have come out of mom and dad’s relationship. Love it!

We also did a cute stars and stripes setup, which turned out great! It tied in the sprinkling of pretty gold stars we used with mom’s wedding veil, and was perfect for summertime. Loved meeting this sweet baby girl and helping mom celebrate her arrival with a special newborn photography session!

Custom Stars and Light Cake Smash | Northern NJ Photographer

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is getting ready for a fun-filled holiday season! It may look a little different for a lot of us this year, but as long as we have the love of family we have a reason to celebrate!

Birthday Cake Smash

I did this birthday cake smash photoshoot back in October, when the weather was just starting to turn chilly. All of my cake smash sessions are fully customized, so I always ask parents what kind of a look they’re going for and if there’s a particular theme they want. Mom told me that baby girl’s name means “light,” so she thought it would be fun to play on that theme. What a great idea! I filled the studio with twinkle lights in preparation for their session. Also used light-up star props and lots of white to reflect the light and give our photos some sparkle. It turned out just like we were hoping.  

Although we spent most of our time in my New Jersey photography studio, we also did a few outdoor shots with baby and her parents. Including parent photos in your baby photography session is a great add-on! Lots of people book that add-on when they schedule their child’s photoshoot. It’s the perfect way to document the big one-year milestone. Plus, you get updated, professional family pictures at the same time. Win-win!

Baby Boy Blue | New Jersey Newborn Photography

This year has been so crazy. Although in some ways it feels like it’s been incredibly long (especially when I look back at all the changes that have happened with the coronavirus), in other ways it seems like it’s flown by so fast—like when I realize I did these newborn photos back in June!

We had actually scheduled this newborn photography session for April…but with all the COVID shutdowns and precautions we had to delay for a few weeks. Little guy was ten weeks old by the time he finally made into my northern New Jersey photography studio. Photographing older newborns can present some special challenges: older babies tend to be more wakeful, and they’re not quite as flexible as brand new babies, so some of the cute newborn poses just aren’t possible after those first couple of weeks. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still get beautiful pictures!

Even though he was older, this little man was still a wonderful sleeper. Lucky parents! He was so good for me, and such a chunk! I loved those rolls and chubby cheeks!

Some of the most popular poses for newborn photography involve swaddles and wraps. Fortunately, wrapped poses are easy to do even with babies who are two or three months old. We decided to do lots of swaddles so we could still get that newborn look even though we’d had to delay our session. I think it turned out great!

I’m so glad we were able to work things out so that we could still capture memories of this sweet little boy. Love the images we were able to create. He was such a sweetheart!

I can’t get over how adorable this baby girl is! She and her mom came to my newborn photography studio in Northern New Jersey for baby pictures and I fell in love with this cutie instantly. Seriously, just look at those chubby cheeks!

Mom is actually my sister-in-law’s best friend, so it was really fun to do this newborn photo session for her. She wanted pink and gray as the main colors, so I went through my collection of newborn props and outfits and put together a customized selection. I’m a firm believer in customizing every session so that it’s exactly what the client wants. Every baby is unique and special—and your pictures of them should reflect that. All of my sessions are one of a kind, just like your little one!

The photos from this newborn photography session turned out so pretty! I love the color combination, and I enjoyed combining beautiful elements like flowers with cute and whimsical touches (like that sweet little pink bear bonnet).

Baby girl was super good for me and slept almost the entire time she was at the studio. Even when she did wake up briefly, it gave me the perfect chance to capture those gorgeous baby eyes. Isn’t she a sweetheart?

It was great to spend some time with this super sweet girl and her mama. Another wonderful newborn session!

Birthday Girl Cake Smash | New Jersey Photographer

What a fun session this was! I have been photographing this little cutie pie since birth, so I was excited to have her in my New Jersey photography studio again. Always love seeing my little clients and watching them grow up. Can’t believe it’s already been a year since I was photographing her as a newborn. This time, it was to celebrate her first birthday with a cake smash!

Cake smash photography is one of my favorites, and Miss Taryn has such a happy personality that she made it even better. All of my sessions are customized, and we set this one up with a ballerina theme. With her little pink tutu and party dress, it was the perfect choice! We got some fun baby portraits so we could capture that adorable face before it got covered in frosting.

This little girl was absolutely hilarious with her cake. Sometimes it takes some coaxing to get a baby interested, and they can be very cautious when testing it out. But Taryn had no such qualms. She took the term “cake smash” literally, and by the end of our session…well, you can see how much was left of her cake. Too funny! You’ve got to love that kind of enthusiasm.

Taryn loved every second of her birthday cake smash photo session, including bath time at the end. Love these fun, cute-as-a-button pictures we were able to capture. Happy birthday, Taryn!

Wrapped Mini Newborn Photo Session | Northern New Jersey Studio

This little cutie came to my Northern New Jersey photography studio at the beginning of the year for a wrapped mini newborn photo session. His mom and I have worked together before so it was nice to see her again and meet the little guy. He’s adorable!

Mini sessions are really nice if you’re looking for a bit of a shorter experience. These go much faster than a full newborn shoot, since I don’t do as many poses and setups, but you still get beautiful pictures of your little one—as you can see with this baby boy.

Most newborns love to be swaddled, and wraps are one of the most popular poses/props that are requested for baby pictures. It’s a very natural way to pose a new infant since they’re still so used to the comfort and warmth of mama’s womb. Plus, there’s just nothing cuter than a baby snuggled securely in a wrap. That’s one of the things that makes a wrapped mini newborn photography session so perfect. It’s pretty much a guarantee that baby will be happy, and you’ll love the finished product!

Had a great time creating a custom cake smash photo session for this cute little birthday boy. A lot of times my cake smash kiddos are also babies I photographed as newborns, but this was the first time I’d met this little guy and his family. They are such sweet people and I loved getting to know them.

This young man was such a happy boy. He smiled almost the whole time and loved posing for the camera. Aren’t his outfits the best? Baby boy and bow ties were meant to go together!

Northern New Jersey Newborn Photographer | Little Boy Blue

This was the sweetest little guy and it was so much fun to do this newborn photography session for him back in January! (You know, back in the good old days.) His parents were first-time clients of mine so it was wonderful to meet them and welcome them to my northern New Jersey photography studio. What a pleasure to capture this exciting change in their lives!

You know how Mary Poppins was practically perfect in every way? Well, this little guy was absolutely perfect in every way. From his tiny toes to his fluffy hair, he was the ideal newborn. He definitely wins a prize for adorable forehead wrinkles. And what a great sleeper! Super sleepy babies like this always make my job as a New Jersey newborn photographer so much easier. Posing is a breeze, and we can do so many fun props, poses, and outfit combinations when baby is cooperative like this. One of the many reasons to get baby into the studio early, when sleeping is still a favorite activity!

Love the beautiful blues mom and dad chose as the color scheme for these baby pictures. Blue is a classic for boys and you can’t go wrong with it. It’s great paired with brown, cream, white, or gray. We did a little of all of them during this newborn photography session because—why not?

What’s the perfect way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday? A cake smash photography session, of course!

I photographed this adorable little girl as a newborn, so it was great to see her in the studio again. She has to be one of the happiest babies on the planet! Photographing her felt like pure entertainment from start to finish, and she obviously felt the same way. She loved her cake, loved posing, and knew exactly how to work the camera. Look at that smile!

You never quite know how a baby will react to frosting, but this birthday girl loved it. There was icing everywhere by the time we were finished—which is exactly what makes a cake smash photo session so much fun! It’s also why I frequently finish up the cake smash with tub time. Splashing in bubbles is the best, and gets baby squeaky clean before it’s time to go home.

Another of the fun aspects of baby photography is figuring out themes and sets so I can achieve exactly the look parents are going for. I want every session to be unique and personalized, which is why I customize each one to my clients’ specific requests. This was a custom set and I loved it! With flowers, lights, and shabby chic décor, it provided just the right combination of gorgeous and whimsical.

When should I book my Cake Smash Portrait Session?

When is the best time to book a Cake Smash Session?

I get this question every now and then, but majority of the time a lot of people inquire right around their little one’s 1st birthday.

If I can give any advice it would be to book your session sooner rather than later. The sooner the better actually! I have clients who book their Cake Smash Sessions right around when their little one turns 5-6 months old. Is that too early?! NO WAY!!!!

A lot of time and planning go in to my Cake Smash Sessions. Custom sets can take a few weeks to put together and design. Also, I love having the photos done and ready for the 1st birthday and for the birthday boy’s/girl’s party.
